Marjorie Moate, 89

| February 2, 2022 1:00 AM

It is with broken hearts that we mourn the loss of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother that passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. Marjorie, who went by Marjie to family and friends, was born April 18, 1932, in Spokane, Wash. She was the daughter of Hazel Coffman. Marjie spent her time growing up in Spokane, Wash., and Potlach, Idaho.

Marjie married the love of her life and best friend, Bob Moate, on May 1, 1949, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Bob and Marjie were longtime residents of Coeur d’Alene and built a home on Fernan Lake in 1955 where they raised their six children. For over 50 years they owned and operated Custom Building & Supply, where Marjie was the bookkeeper. The successful business is now owned and operated by three of their sons, two of their grandsons and a granddaughter.

While Marjie’s greatest pleasure was being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she was also active in her community and served as a Cub Scout leader and 4-H leader for many years. Marjorie was a woman of great faith and she shared her knowledge of the bible and love for the Lord by teaching bible studies in the church and her community for over 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bob and children: Bob (Kathy) Moate; Terry (Allison) Moate; Randy (Dana) Moate; Janie (Craig) Paterson; Marian (Conrad) Underdahl; Tom (Dawn) Moate; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N 4th St. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 625 E Haycraft Ave.
