| February 2, 2022 1:00 AM

On Monday, Jan. 3, Karen Deann Roth passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Karen was born on June 1, 1960, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Jim and Kathleen. She later moved to Idaho and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1978. While living in Idaho she met the love of her life, Mike Roth, and the two were married on Aug. 14, 1982. Together they raised three sons: Jesse, Jeremy and Johnny.

Karen had a passion for the outdoors and loved animals. She had an adventurous spirit and didn’t back down from a challenge. From being an active participant in her high school ski club to spending time riding her beloved horses, she felt at home in nature.

A proud mother, Karen never missed a sporting event or chance to celebrate her sons’ accomplishments. She was an incredible mother and delighted in her boys. Karen is remembered by many for her sincerity and warmth. Working as a school secretary at Garwood Elementary, she could always be counted on for a hug and encouraging smile. She had a way of making people feel loved. A favorite of her son’s friends, her home was always open to others. She was the first to reach out to help anyone in need. Her love for people was evident.

Karen is survived by her husband, Mike; mother, Kathleen; father and stepmother, Jim and Mary; mother-in-law, Lucy; children, Jesse and Rita, Jeremy and Mary, and Johnny and Haley; and sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Rick. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Karen left behind a legacy of selflessness, compassion and a great love for others that will continue to live on.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit Karen’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at yatesfuneralhomes.com.
