COEUR d’ALENE — It wasn’t their best night.

But all things considered, it was still pretty good.

Senior Kolton Mitchell had 29 points, seven assists, five steals and five rebounds for Lake City in an 82-57 win over the Eagle Mustangs on Tuesday at Lake City High.

Senior Blake Buchanan finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Lake City, which led Eagle 35-30 at halftime.

“It was a hard-fought and pretty intense game,” Lake City coach Jim Winger said. “Eagle did a great job of taking some things away in the paint. I’m a big fan of (Eagle coach) Cody (Pickett), and he does a great job with them. I didn’t think we shot the ball well and defensively we were off, didn’t communicate and were a step slow on some things.”

Lake City outscored Eagle 47-27 in the second half.

“We came out after halftime and got after it really well,” Winger said. “It was just an odd feeling game, but a good victory against a tough, physical team.”

Landon White scored 18 points for Eagle (3-5).

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Carter Rupp scored 23 points for the Vikings, who shot 24 of 33, including 9 of 18 from the 3-point line in blitzing the Warriors at Viking Court.

“They’re a guard-based team,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams said. “Alex was really tough in the post in the first half and our guards were able to get to the basketball and kick it out for 3-pointers. We didn’t do a great job defensively in the first half and guys were losing their man. But we really didn’t have an off quarter and it was kind of fun to watch.”

Steven Burgess scored 18 points and Caden Symons 12 for Coeur d’Alene (8-2), which finished 25 of 29 from the free-throw line.

The Vikings host Bishop Kelly tonight at 7.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Senior guard Jaedyn Brown, who received an offer from Idaho State recently, scored 20 of his 35 points in the second half for the Greyhounds in a win over the Hawks at the West Valley Holiday Tournament.

“He’s a fantastic player,” Lakeland coach Tony Hanna said of Brown, who did not miss a shot in the second half. “I thought we did a decent job on him and contested most of his shots. He’s just a good player, doesn’t get out of rhythm and is a solid player.”

“I thought we played really well in the first half and did a lot of good things,” Hanna said. “Pullman came out and turned it up a notch in the second half. We did a good job of keeping the ball out of the middle as much as we could, but we need to start putting together full games.”
