You all will be reading this just before the turn of the year to 2023. As we reflect back on 2022 and crossing the threshold of our 15th anniversary for The Dinner Party, Mary and I are again overwhelmed by the support we have received from all of you. From the beginning, we have been and remain honored with how you have embraced our vision for a fine wine and gift shop.

Each year that has gone by we have met more friends and more supporters of that vision and it means the world to us. We continue to work to hold up our end of the bargain and provide great service to go along with great bottles and wonderful gifts all thoughtfully presented.

As we turn the page on another year, we offer our sincere thanks to all at the Coeur d’Alene Press for their ongoing and wonderful support of the weekly wine column — it is an honor to work with all of you. To all our readers, customers, wine club members and friends thank you for everything you do for us, your support touches us and we are so grateful we opened our shop here in North Idaho. We wish you the happiest of New Years and wish you many great glasses of wine and the best life has to offer all of you.

George Balling is co-owner with his wife, Mary Lancaster, of The Dinner Party, a wine and gift shop in Coeur d’Alene by Costco. The Dinner Party has won the award for best wine shop in North Idaho twice, including for 2018.

George is also published in several other publications around the country. After working in wineries in California and judging many wine competitions, he moved to Coeur d’Alene with Mary more than 10 years ago to open the shop.
