NIC TRUSTEES: Repeating mistakes

| December 25, 2022 1:00 AM

It seems that three people on the North Idaho College Board have a Charlie Brown syndrome. Someone keeps pulling the ball away but they keep aiming for it. Again and again the same mistakes are repeated. Putting a president that the students like on leave is insane … again.

If the board has five members and three of them meet outside a public meeting, then you have a quorum and that ‘quorum’ must have an agenda and a public meeting notice posted 48 hours before the meeting takes place. This includes meeting for coffee at a restaurant. Therein we have another rule that has been broken. Also, minutes must be kept in executive sessions. Was this done in the executive session held recently?

Banducci seems to want NIC to be an athletic school only. His hostility to the academic side of the college is obvious.

The best solution is for Banducci, McKenzie and Waggoner to resign to save the college. If they do not, the college goes down in flames and the community is minus one of its greatest assets. Another solution would be for the three to be recalled and I would hope someone is working on this.

My question is this: Why does North Idaho College need a board at all? These people should not be hiring the president. The faculty should be searching for and hiring the president. The state Education Department should fill in any other duties the board had. End of trouble, end of story.
