Lyle Jason Craner, 64

| December 20, 2022 1:00 AM

Lyle Jason Craner was born Jan. 29, 1958, to Fred and Sally Craner in St. Maries, Idaho. Lyle passed away in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, after a brief illness on Dec. 1, surrounded by those who loved him.

He grew up in St. Maries and attended grade school there until the sixth Grade, when the family moved to Airway Heights. After a short couple of years there, the Craner family moved to Twin Lakes and he continued his education in the Lakeland school district. This is where Lyle met his ex-wife, Christi, and they were blessed with their son, Jason.

Lyle spent his youth working at various projects with his father, Fred, along with his siblings. From cutting cedar shake bolts as a child to creating the North South Ski Bowl, tearing down buildings on the Fairchild Airforce Base, dismantling railroad bridges and railroad lines, various logging jobs, and building a sawmill in Spirit Lake, the family worked together until the death of his father in 1984.

Lyle continued to work in the woods with his brothers, driving truck and operating equipment, and for a short time lived in the Silver Valley, where he had a landscaping business. At the time of his death he had been employed with Jack Buell Trucking for a number of years and made his home in St. Maries.

Lyle was extremely proud of his son, Jason, and his wife, Angela, and their family. He spent much of his free time attending sports events that his grandsons, Kadin and Ryan, participated in, and was their biggest fan.

Lyle was known for his expertise in anything he set his mind to, and could operate any type of equipment with skill. He wrestled in his younger years and could tell you who he pinned and how long it took, even recently, with a smile.

Lyle leaves behind his son, Jason (Angela) Craner of Rathdrum, Idaho, grandsons, Kadin and Ryan, mother, Sally (Ray) Hoppe of Post Falls, siblings, Merle (June) Craner, Kathy (Wes) Duchek, Mike Craner, David (Kara) Craner, Sheryl (Roger) Benney, Dana (Glen) Brooks, and Kim (Evan) Ferguson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Craner, as well as a sister, Terry Lee Craner.

A celebration of life was held at the Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls on Dec. 13.

Rest in the arms of your savior, Lyle, you will be in our hearts forever.
