NIC: ‘More truth than sarcasm’

| December 18, 2022 1:00 AM

Let’s ask ourselves the following: What is the agenda of the of the majority of the NIC board of trustees?

As a 50-year Kootenai County resident who believes in public education and having watched every NIC board meeting since June 2022, I’m going to take a guess as to what the ultimate desires of the KCRCC-driven board will look like.

Imagine a college that looks like this:

There is no need for the leadership of an experienced, educated, competent and passionate individual to guide our college to the highest standards imaginable.

The trustees see themselves as capable of making ALL decisions related to policy, staffing, curriculum, legal issues and accreditation standards. All new hires will be vetted by Todd and Greg because they know, above all else, what is best for the college. Two of the trustees have no voice at all.

We will be a conservative “Christian” institution. No more “decadent liberal” curriculum.

A comprehensive liberal education college cannot possibly have Christian values and staff role models who exemplify those values.

Mr. B and Mr. M will tell us what we need to learn and how to go about learning it. We need to just look to them as they are great models of professional behavior.

What’s really scary is that there is more truth than sarcasm in this letter.
