PREP ROUNDUP: 2A Wildcats take down 5A foes Coeur d'Alene, Lake City
• WRESTLING
COEUR d’ALENE — The 2A Kellogg Wildcats picked off 5A foes Coeur d’Alene and Lake City in a pair of duals at Coeur d’Alene High on Wednesday night.
“Kellogg, they’re a good, veteran team,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “They’re going to be a handful in the 2A ranks. They’ve put in a lot of work to get where they’re at right now.”
Kellogg beat Coeur d’Alene 49-36 after handing Lake City a 54-30 defeat.
Lake City bounced back to beat Lakeland 48-36 behind pins from freshmen Isaac Carlson (138 pounds) and Landon Moore (170).
“Both of them have limited varsity experience, but stepped up,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “Both of them got pins that would have been the difference in the dual for sure. We came out flat against Kellogg, but the kids responded against Lakeland. Lakeland’s got a good team and our kids wrestled their butts off. I was really proud of them for that.”
All four teams will compete in the Tri-State Invitational on Friday and Saturday at North Idaho College.
