Ron Ouren, 80

| December 14, 2022 1:00 AM

In the early hours of Dec. 4, 2022, the Lord welcomed a new angel, Ron Ouren, at the age of 80.

Raised in North Dakota, Ron was the star athlete for Tioga High School, playing all sports. He received a scholarship to play baseball at the University of North Dakota and then went on to play in the minor leagues. After marrying Karen in 1965, Ron was called to duty and went to basic training in Missouri and eventually met up with the family in Coeur d’Alene, where he went to work for West One Bank and started his 50 years in the banking industry.

When Ron was not giving his time to Rotary (President in 2015-16), NIC Booster or Park Foundation, you would often find him enjoying a workout or his continued passion for playing baseball or attending Dodger Fantasy baseball camps in Florida. He loved to travel, often times to Maui to enjoy some sun or catch his beloved Gonzaga basketball team!

Ron is preceded in death his father, Harry and mother, Doris and daughter, Tami. He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 57 years; his daughter, Tawnie (Roger); his son, Tom (Taryn); grandchildren Jase, Chantal, Shealynn (Adrian), Shelby, Tatum and Taryn; great-grandchildren Logan, Kendall and Griffin; and his sister, Sandy (Chuck).

A visitation will be from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. A reception time and location will be announced at the service.

In honor and memory of Ron, the family encourages gifts to the Coeur d'Alene Rotary Club Foundation, PO Box 444, Cd'A, ID 83816 or online at www.coeurdalenerotary.org/cda-rotary-foundation.php and Banner MD Cancer Center https://www.bannerhealthfoundation.org/ways-to-give/memorial-gifts and direct it the Banner MD Cancer Center.
