Tiny trees, big fun

"Oh, look! Glass slippers!"

Five-year-old Emma Clark was drawn to the Cinderella tree, which had these wise words next to it: "Never look back — if Cinderella had gone back to pick up her shoe ... she wouldn't have become a princess."

Decorated in shimmering gold, white and blue ornamentation, the Cinderella tree was one of 22 Christmas trees and seven centerpieces on display Saturday morning at Red Lion Templin's during the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce's seventh annual Post Fallidays Tiny Tree Festival.

"We are enjoying it, this is fun," said Emma's mom, Emily Clark of Post Falls. "There's a lot of people here from Post Falls. It's a small town and they're all here to support the chamber of commerce."

The festive holiday morning featured a delectable brunch spread and a mimosa bar for guests to enjoy as well as people's choice contests and silent bidding for lucky winners to take home their favorite trees and centerpieces.

Each entry was unique in theme and accompanying gift packages, from Post Falls School District's Trojan orange and black tree with school pride swag to the Triple Play Resort Hotel and Suites' "Stay Gold" tree with a stay and play package.

Post Falls Police Department and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue also had a friendly competition to win the hearts and votes of guests with their Willy Wonka and firefighter Christmas trees.

Post Falls Chamber President and CEO Christina Petit said 135 people registered to attend, making it the best event turnout since she has been with the chamber.

"We have a great mix — a lot of new businesses and new sponsors are here today and even some community members that aren't part of the team came out to enjoy it," Petit said. "We love it. It's a fun festive way to kick off the holidays and it helps us to support our mission in the community, which is to make Post Falls a better place to live, work and play."
