The Thorns North FC 11 girls Academy competed at the River City Challenge this past weekend, going undefeated and taking first place in the U13 Silver Bracket. The Thorns defenders, Emily Hackett, Ava Langer, Ella Linder, Olivia Nusser, Vivian Hartzell and keepers Constance Ovendale, Mackenzie Dolan and Sophia Harrington play an outstanding weekend, holding the Thorns opponents to only 1 goal for the tournament. Game two ended with a 1-0 win over Thorns North FC Sandpoint Strikers 2010G with a goal from Kylie Lorona. The girls then beat Eastern Washington Surf SC G10 Staples 1-0 with another goal from Kylie Lorona. The tournament final was played against Thorns North FC Sandpoint Strikers 2010G. Presley Moreau scored the lone goal for the 11G in a 1-1 tie, leading to a shootout with Olivia Nusser, Presley, Sophia, Olivia Hynes all successfully completing their shoots to beat the Sandpoint Strikers 4-3 in the shootout. Constance Ovendale blocked two Sandpoint shots.
