Laferriere designated MBTI Master Practitioner

North Idaho College’s Gail Laferriere has been awarded the designation of Master Practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Laferriere, who is the assistant director of NIC’s Career Services, has held MBTI certification since 1997. The MBTI is a personality inventory and assessment that identifies and describes 16 distinct personality types from a series of four questions about information processing, decision making, structure and preference between introversion and extraversion.

The designation of master practitioner recognizes an advanced level of knowledge relating to psychological type and the MBTI assessment, according to the MBTI Master Practitioner Credential Program.

To become a master practitioner, applicants must complete 40 hours of continuing education and 40 hours of practical application as an MBTI leader or instructor. Laferriere completed a master’s thesis focused on the MBTI in 2000 and has used the MBTI in career and college counseling at NIC and in the community for decades.
