POST FALLS — Senior forward Cooper Prohaska scored six of Coeur d'Alene's seven goals as the Vikings beat the Post Falls Trojans 7-0 in the season and Inland Empire League opener for both teams Saturday.
Coeur d’Alene coach Braden Ridgewell missed Saturday’s match due to illness, and assistant coach Robbie Harmelink coached the team.
“They played great and we didn’t today,” said Post Falls coach Johnny Mueller, who took over for Gabe Lawson this fall. “We’re going to build from this and get better moving forward.”
Post Falls travels to Sandpoint on Monday.

Nikita Rawson and Jesse Dye each scored two goals for Bonners Ferry, which plays host to Priest River on Tuesday.

“Paul (Bonnell, the Bonners Ferry coach) played with nine in the second half, which was nice. He didn’t have to do that,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “Considering what we were going up there with, considering the first day of practice we had only nine … ”
He said the Lumberjacks are up to 14 players, and all should be practice-eligible by Thursday, when St. Maries travels to Grangeville.
