Elsie Belle Coulter, 99
Elsie Belle (Bangle) Coulter, 99 years young, a 68-year resident of Coeur d’Alene passed away Aug. 6, 2022, at Guardian Angel Care Facility. She was born July 1, 1923, in San Bernardino, Calif. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Coulter and her parents, Robert Miller Bangle and Bessie Belle (Dunsmoor) Bangle of Southern California.
Her family of five moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1954. After several homes in Coeur d’Alene, Elsie and Guy moved to a 40-acre ranch on the Rimrock in Hayden Lake, Idaho for 30 years. After a successful secretarial job for 18 years at North Idaho College Hedlund Building, they retired to 16th Street in Coeur d’Alene until 2009. Elsie finally settled at Guardian Angel in Post Falls until she passed. Her youngest brother, Ed Bangle (age 92), resides in Sandpoint, Idaho. Elsie had four brothers and two sisters.
Elsie was a devoted mother who loved the outdoors, camping, and gardening. Her passion was roaming the woods for identifiable mushrooms. She was an accomplished mycologist with one mushroom to grace her name. She was a charter member of the North Idaho Mushroom Club and a member for many years.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Janet Chism of New Boston, Texas; sons, Steven (wife, Mary) Coulter of Post Falls, and Phillip Coulter of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren: Keith Coulter, Leisa (Coulter) Spence, Lee Crawford, and Mona Crawford; great-grandchildren: Reagan and Ryder Spence, and Kera Stanley with two great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life open house will be held from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Steve and Mary Coulter’s home, 508 E. 19th Avenue, Post Falls, Idaho 83854.
