CYT North Idaho's 'Sound of Music' opens tonight
Join CCT North Idaho (CYT North Idaho's community production) for the final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein, "The Sound of Music," opening on the Kroc Center Theater stage at 7 tonight.
"The Sound of Music" was destined to become a beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title number, "The Sound of Music" won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Capt. von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
This particular production is a true family affair. The cast includes 10 family groups:
• Amee Peltekian as Maria and her daughter, Eloise, playing Gretl von Trapp
• Four members of the Bradshaw family
• Jess Jameson plays Sister Berthe alongside two of her children
