FINANCIAL UNCERTAINTY: Better representation needed at all levels

| August 10, 2022 1:00 AM

I have always voted to support schools however, the recent levy proposal that we will vote on Aug. 30 and what the state will do in the upcoming session, has me very confused, as to how this will impact my limited financial resources.

If I approve the local levy and then our state legislature imposes another financial hit, this could be devastating to the finances of those folks who are already barely hanging on to their homes.

It’s unconscionable that with more than a billion surplus dollars in Idaho coffers, we still have a grocery tax and are facing another bump in house payments due to inadequate state financing of much needed school facility expenses.

It is my hope that folks will vote for representatives at all levels of government, to not only address these financial issues, but protect our voting rights and our democracy.

It seems to me that the folks making the rules, are in an elevated financial situation and aren’t able to relate to the rest of us, who are not so elevated and suffering due to inflated prices/costs of basic necessities.
