McKenna Kozeluh, a rising senior at Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy, won the women's 17-18 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics, becoming an All-American in her first year of national competition.

Kozeluh bested Kassandra Jimenez of El Paso in the 3,000 by over 24 seconds (10 minutes, 16.27 seconds) to win her first championship on Saturday, and followed up with a four second win over Orlaan Winston from XTreme Speed in a time of 4:46.58.

"The one thing that caught my eyes about McKenna is that she is a fighter," North Idaho Blaze distance coach Chris Carvajal said. "It's a testimony to how remarkably well she performed at nationals. She truly is a pleasure to coach."

Kozeluh won the state 3A cross country championship last fall at Eagle Island State Park in Eagle.
