CYBERSECURITY: Our unlocked doors

| April 29, 2022 1:00 AM

In 2020, more than 330 million people were victims of cyber crimes, and this number will only continue to get bigger every year.

This costs people and families thousands of dollars, and countless hours of time and stress to try and have fixed. The worst part is that oftentimes this can be prevented. Taking simple actions such as having strong passwords along with different passwords for every website login can help drastically mitigate the risk of one’s personal information being exposed.

Just spending a bit of time to strengthen passwords and updating them can save all Americans so much money, time and hassle, yet not enough attention is paid to the issue. With everything that is going on in the world and constant calculated attacks on Americans’ online information by foreign states, it is critical now more than ever we take the issue seriously.

We have seen time after time that the government can not be trusted to protect its citizens, so it is imperative that we protect ourselves. More awareness about online security is a must for the security and safety of our nation. Fraud and theft is more rampant now than any other time in human history because of the digital age we live in, and the problem must be addressed.
