BASEBALL

SPIRIT LAKE — Ty Gallimore singled in a run, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Caden Robinett, capping a four-run rally in the final inning of the second game as the Timberlake Tigers edged the visiting Bonners Ferry Badgers 11-10 to earn a split of their Intermountain League doubleheader on Tuesday.

Bonners Ferry won the first game 10-3.

Gallimore, who went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the second game, was brought up from the junior varsity two weeks ago for Timberlake (9-3, 5-1 IML), which leads the league at the halfway mark.

“He was big tonight,” Timberlake coach Bryce Johnson said. “He’s fast, and he puts the ball into play.”

After Gallimore’s RBI single, Kenny Wells delivered a two-run single to tie the game at 10. Wells finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs in the game, which was called after six innings due to darkness.

“We left so many runners on base (most of the game),” Johnson said. “We just finally got those hits we’ve been waiting for.”

In the first game, Timberlake led 3-1 after three innings before Bonners Ferry took over.

“The first game we made too many errors, and costly errors,” Johnson said.

Blake Rice went 4 for 4 and scored four runs in the second game for Bonners Ferry (6-10, 3-3).

Timberlake plays Kellogg on Saturday in an IML doubleheader at Morehouse Field in Osburn.

RATHDRUM — To get these doubleheaders in, playing fast is key.

On Tuesday, it was a rather fast start for the visiting Trojans.

Post Falls scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning in the opener on the way to a 16-4 Inland Empire League win over the Hawks at Gorton Field.

“We were being aggressive and making good contact on the ball,” said Post Falls coach Kurt Reese, who graduated from Lakeland High in 1998. “We kind of backed off after that first inning and Lakeland battled back, but our guys responded and did what they needed to do.”

Dom Wilburn and Tanner Sessions had two RBIs each for the Trojans. Cameron Harris had three hits and a run scored in the first game for Lakeland.

In the second game, Langan Naylor scored on an error to break a 3-3 tie as the Trojans earned the sweep. Austin DeBoer and Tanner Sessions combined to limit Lakeland to three runs, none after the first inning.

“We had the bases loaded a few times, but just couldn’t get that big hit,” Reese said. “Both Austin and Tanner did a good job of limiting the walks (2). It was a good battle in that second game.”

“I was really proud of how we responded in the second game,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “The kids really competed well. Both Cam Harris and Blaze day swung the bat really well and had some productive at-bats.”
