HIGHWAYS: What a mess

To all the so-called educated folks who run the state highway department, the Lakes Highway District and the county highway system, I guess that’s why they carry their diplomas on their dashboard — so they can park in the handicap parking spot.

I have never seen more unorganized folks charged with looking after our highways, and the lack of priorities that most of our citizens expect. Why in God’s name do we need more overpasses and why can’t they re-pave the roads in our community?

Highway 54 from Rathdrum to Athol is a mess, full of potholes, and the highway from Rathdrum (53) to Trent and or State Line is full of potholes and never repaired.

Another place in need of fixing is the right-hand turn to Diagonal just north of Rathdrum to turn onto Diagonal. No lane there at all, just back-up traffic and cause an accident.

And one more thing as we are looking at the lack of understanding of the priorities on Government Way. They did a nice job of sealing it with new asphalt with all the nice painted lines to keep folks in their lane, then they Seal Coated it and how much did they spend on paint and it still needs to repainted again!

Why can’t we do better?
