Volunteers invited to 'Trash Tag Challenge' cleanup
COEUR d'ALENE — The Trash Tag Challenge organized by the Civic Engagement Alliance is set for Sunday, April 24.
Volunteers will meet at the Treaty Rock picnic area in Post Falls at 11 a.m. and will be dispatched to clean up sections of I-90, rest areas, parks and street banks until 1:30 p.m.
Volunteers will be provided safety vests, trash bags, zip ties, and plastic gloves.
Civic Engagement Alliance will provide beverages and light snacks.
"The event was organized to take collective action to keep the community beautiful and combat trash that is glaringly visible to residents and visitors," a press release said.
Civic Engagement alliance organized a Trash Tag Challenge last year and had over 40 volunteers. This year, it has almost 50 people already signed up.
The Trash Tag Challenge is a global movement partnered with National Cleanup Day that encourages people to pick up trash and post photos of their good deeds with the hashtag #trashtag.
