PASCO, Wash. — Post Falls senior Sammie Wood and junior Annastasia Peters were the top two finishers in the 3,200-meter run at the Pasco Invitational on Saturday at Edgar Brown Stadium.

Wood won the event in 10 minutes, 42.15 seconds, followed by Peters in 10:54.03. The duo, along with sophomore Kinlee McLean and freshman Kaylynn Misner, won the distance medley relay in 12:33.01, a school record. The previous record was 12:35.41 set in 2019.

“Overall it was a really good day considering the circumstances,” said Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell of the meet, which had rain throughout. “The kids competed really well. There weren’t a lot of PR’s, but it was a good day for our kids.”

Post Falls senior Dalton Wild was third in the 100 in 11.26 seconds and sophomore Dylan Wolfe second in the 200 in 23.08.

Sandpoint junior Rusty Lee won the 110 hurdles in 14.76 and was third in the 300 hurdles (41.22).

“He’s just .11 off the school record in the 110 hurdles,” Sandpoint coach Matt Brass said. “While being a junior, that’s impressive and it was raining and windy during his race.”

Senior Will Hurst finished sixth in the shot put and ninth in the discus.

“I know he wasn’t too happy with his disc throw,” Brass said. “But he did really well considering the conditions. He’s a veteran and knew what he had to do.”

Slate Forgoso finished fourth in the pole vault clearing 11 feet, 6 inches.

“You can only imagine how hard it was to do pole vault with the weather,” Brass said. “He had a tough time hanging on to it, but he managed to do really well.”
