ITD: Quick response appreciated
Recently, a family member from out of the area was traveling north on Highway 41 just out of Post Falls and came to the construction area. There is a gradual right-hand turn separating the north bound traffic from the south bound traffic. This was during a hard rainstorm.
They did not see the yellow lines on the road which had faded to near obliteration and wound up going north in the southbound lane. They quickly realized they were in the wrong place. Stopped and got back to the correct lane.
Upon learning of the problem, I contacted ITD the following day and talked with Randy Durland. He said he would check it out and make whatever corrections needed to be made.
The day after talking with Mr. Durland, I went by the area around 10 a.m. and there was a row of three-foot high cones separating the north and southbound lanes. That was a really quick solution to the traffic situation.
About 10 days later, I happened to be back on Highway 41 and found there was a complete line of three-foot cones on not only the north side but on the south side as well, separating the lanes of traffic. Mr. Durland came through again, making this zone far safer than it had been before he looked at it.
I was very impressed with the quick action taken by Mr. Durland. That was a great job done very quickly and thoroughly.
