Prepare to meet the candidates
Kootenai County, get ready to meet the people who want to represent you.
The 2022 Republican primary "Meet the Candidates" interviews, hosted by Hagadone News Network Publisher Clint Schroeder, go live Monday.
This is the third year the Coeur d'Alene Press has presented a "Meet the Candidates" series. The goal is to allow candidates a platform to reach constituents virtually and without political bias.
"It's been enlightening," Schroeder said Friday. "Each of the candidates is bringing a completely unique point of view to the table. They all have a separate perspective on what needs to be done."
Schroeder interviewed 22 candidates. They include people running for Idaho Senate and House of Representatives, as well as Kootenai County assessor, clerk, commissioner and coroner.
Only candidates in contested races will be featured. Those running in contested races who chose not to be interviewed will be listed as "did not participate."
Schroeder said although they may be running for the same seat and they're in the same party, "they are all unique individuals."
"I think it's great for the constituency to see who aligns best with them, before they cast the vote," he said.
