DRUGS: The losing battle

More than 100,000 people in the USA decided to take enough of whatever drug that killed them. No one forced them other than themselves.

The USA tried during prohibition to stop people from abusing ETOH. It didn’t work.

The USA tried to get people to stop using tobacco. It hasn’t worked yet.

Those two legal drugs kill more than 100,000 a year yet they are legal.

Since the start of the war on drugs, the USA has spent billions of dollars fighting to stop people from consuming what has been identified as illegal drugs.

The result is increased incarcerations, crimes committed to purchase those illegal drugs and incredible profits for those who traffic those illegal drugs and for the contractors running the prisons.

Prohibition proved we couldn’t stop people from getting ETOH. We have yet to stop people from using tobacco and abusing ETOH yet we continue to try to legislate and pass laws that prevent people from using illegal drugs.

My point is why do we (the USA) keep doing what has already been a futile fight?

There is no law, legislation or pill that can cure stupidity. The only answer is to allow all drugs to be legal and allow the citizens of the USA to make the right decision.

I realize that this will be difficult as we watch our fellow citizens make the wrong choice and end up dead but that is what freedom is all about.
