PREP SOFTBALL: Moak, Krause power Post Falls to sweep

POST FALLS — McKenna Moak homered in both games, and pitched Post Falls to victory in the opener as the Trojans swept the Lake City Timberwolves 18-7 and 17-2 in Inland Empire League play Tuesday at Post Falls High.

Moak hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of the opener for Post Falls (7-1, 4-0 IEL), and finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs. In the circle, she struck out six.

Alyssa Krause hit a grand slam in the sixth inning of the opener, and finished 3 for 4 with five RBIs and three runs scored for the Trojans.

Eden Nye hit a two-run homer for Post Falls to end the opener on the 10-run rule.

Moak went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the second game. She hit a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run double in the second inning.

Hope Bodak went 5 for 6 with a homer, triple and two doubles and five RBIs in the two games for Lake City (0-5, 0-2). She hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the opener, and a two-run triple in the third inning of the nightcap.

Hanah Stoddard went 3 for 3 in the first game for the T-Wolves.

On Saturday, league play continues as Lake City plays host to Moscow in a doubleheader, and Post Falls travels to Lewiston for a doubleheader.

RATHDRUM — Haylee Smit struck out 12 in a one-hitter, and went 2 for 4 with a run scored as the Hawks beat the visiting Lumberjacks in nonleague play.

Ten of Lakeland’s 11 runs were unearned, as St. Maries was charged with five errors.

Smit and Kyleigh Dyer had doubles for Lakeland (2-3).

Stacie Mitchell had the lone hit for St. Maries (4-1), a two-out single in the first inning that scored Addyson Stewart.

Smit walked five for Lakeland.

Taci Watkins struck out 13 and walked six for St. Maries.

Lakeland plays host to Kellogg today at 4.

St. Maries is home vs. Timberlake on Thursday.
