DOCKS: Not just no, but…

| April 3, 2022 1:00 AM

So the city wants public input about the proposed docks some money-hungry developers want to build on City Beach.

NO DOCKS! EVER! It’s only going to open the floodgates to more and more developments along the river and bring in more and more people to an already overcrowded area.

All they see are dollar signs. They don’t give a damn about the human impact. We need to preserve the awesome swimming area and not allow this.

I remember a few years ago when the owner of a floating playground (which is still moored in Cougar Bay) wanted to anchor it off City Beach for people to play on. There were several logistical issues that prevented that project, thank goodness. So now I’m pretty sure part of this latest dock plan includes tying the floating playground to one of the docks.

If I were one of the residents living across the street from the beach and had to see this eyesore every day, I would not be a happy camper. Where does it stop? Parks Director Bill Greenwood thinks it will ease the congestion at the Third Street docks, but how can it do that if no one can launch or tie up their boats at this new dock? He says vendors will be able to rent out boats and recreational equipment, from a dock that boats can’t be moored at? Nor will it ease river congestion. That’s not possible.

It’s not making sense to me. So my public input is, and always will be, NO DOCKS!
