TWO: Is better than one

| April 1, 2022 1:00 AM

It appears that there is a concerted effort to create a one party system in our country that is conservative and Christian. I have no problem with conservatives or Christians. Where my concern lies is within the one party, one thought idea.

One has only to look at countries that control their populations through politics such as China, North Korea, Turkey, Brazil and others who rule with an iron hand through dogma. Russia also falls into that category, where media, knowledge, and every aspect of life is controlled by the government.

For the religious aspect, think of Iran, Iraq, Syria or any other radical society that claims their beliefs are the only ones that matter. They do matter, but not to the extent that violence, war, death and destruction are not only permissible but encouraged.

When any group tries to forcibly push their beliefs or way of life upon another, it always ends badly. No two people agree on everything and that is how it should be. Humans are able to think, discern and decide for themselves what they believe in, what religion, if any, they want to follow and they have the right to change their mind at any time. They don’t want to be coerced by others.

This country was designed for a two-party system for that very reason, so that debate, exchange of ideas and compromise would occur to benefit the greater good. Let’s not forget that.
