ITD focuses on bridge work

| April 1, 2022 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE - Construction begins Monday on the U.S. 95 bridge over Northwest Boulevard.

The steel railing will be painted and the surface of 95 will be replaced. The project is expected to take two months to complete. During construction, southbound drivers will not have access to the left turn lane on the bridge and access downtown via Northwest Boulevard.

The Idaho Transportation Department will be improving several local bridges during the spring and summer seasons.

In early May, crews will close one lane of the bridge on Potlatch Hill Road where it crosses over Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive. Temporary traffic signals will be placed to control traffic for the one-month construction period.

In June, Seventh Street over I-90 will close and traffic will be detoured to Ninth Street for one month.

The bridge over I-90 at Wolf Creek Lodge will be under construction for one month beginning early July. Crews will close one lane in each direction, for one month while the surface is sealed to prevent weather damage.

The Greensferry overpass in Post Falls will see lane closures, one lane in each direction for a few days. Crews will begin work in July on the joints that allow the bridge to expand and contract with the weather.

Later in the summer, a separate project will begin addressing repairs on six other bridges in Coeur d’Alene.
