Hayden Marathon coming up

| October 9, 2021 1:00 AM

Honeysuckle Beach and boat launch will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 until about 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 for the annual Hayden Lake Marathon. Only local resident access will be allowed. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed.

Last year, about 300 people ran in a full marathon, half marathon or quarter marathon.

The races begin the morning of Oct. 16.

The 26.2-mile course will travel counter-clockwise around the lake starting and finish at Honeysuckle Beach.

No city roads or streets will be completely closed for the event, but the northbound lane of Smith Road will be used for event parking.

As well, the intersection of Honeysuckle Avenue and Strahorn Road will be used for the route, so flaggers will be stationed there to direct traffic.
