CHURCH: A Christian taxpayer’s piece

| November 19, 2021 1:00 AM

As a 40-plus year Christian taxpayer in North Idaho, I felt the need to comment on the recent building of a so-called “church” up on Highway 54 between Athol and Spirit Lake. As I recall, Jesus was a carpenter and I doubt very much if he would build a church like this. It looks like a warehouse. I guess to contain the pastor’s sheep.

The fact that they never pay a dime in taxes should be enough to cause concern from us taxpayers. They use our roads and our services as we all do. Why in God’s name can’t they pay their fair share?

This, and the fact that our federal government will never address the Constitution’s stand on the separation of church and state. This all adds to the choice of many of our citizens to choose to worship in their own way according to Matthew and keep religion on a personal level and do our praying at home.

God knows we all need to pray for our country and pray that more level-headed folks will prevail and carry on. Otherwise we are doomed to fall into caucus and our lifestyle will never be the same.
