Threesnawati, Toscano, 62

| November 17, 2021 1:00 AM

Threesnawati S. Toscano, lovingly known as “Threes”, passed into the arms of her Savior at age 62 at Kootenai Health on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. She was born in Jakarta, West Java, Indonesia, to Yusuf Maria Surianto Himawan and Maria Magdelena Lenawati Surianto on Dec. 8, 1958. She was the eldest of four siblings, and her family later moved to Bogor, which is 60 kilometers south of Jakarta. Her non-Anglicized name would have been Maria Teresa Threesnawati Himawan Toscano.

She initially met her husband, William John Toscano, through a pen-pal dating program, and moved to the USA when she was 33, where she married Bill in a small ceremony in Albuquerque, N.M., on Jan. 23, 1992, with a larger formal ceremony on April 11, 1992. A little over a year later, a son, Christopher, was born to her in August of 1993. They then moved to Tucson, Ariz., for a couple years before moving up to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in August of 1996.

Before moving to the U.S., Threes was an Executive Secretary at a large rubber company in Jakarta. After being a stay-at-home mother and homeschooling her son for a decade, she attended North Idaho College in the early 2000s. She graduated with her degree as a Medical Administrative Assistant and worked for a time at North Idaho Urgent Care. She then got her RHIT certification and worked in HCC coding for several companies, mostly from home. For the past three years she had taken part time work at Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho, mostly for something fun to do out of the house; as well as taking remote coding contracts when they came up.

Threes was very active in church and Bible Study Fellowship. She taught Sunday School to kindergarteners for many years at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church, and more recently grades 3-6 for girls in Awana at Candlelight Christian fellowship. She volunteered as the treasurer for BSF and as the audio engineer at HBC. She attended several congregations in town over the years including CBC, HBC, Candlelight and North Star. Using her extensive knowledge of insurance and medical coding from work, she volunteered to help people with Medicare and Medicaid questions through the State of Idaho’s SHIBA program. She was active in NIHEA while her son was younger; and she homeschooled him up until sending him to college early in 2006 at age 13.

Some of her favorite things to do were attending church, reading her Bible, gardening and spending time with her son. She was an excellent cook and she primarily made up her own recipes. For her health she preferred a whole-food plant-based diet including green smoothies and attended meetings at the Hayden Library for those like her. She loved to go on road trips, a passion shared with both her husband and son. She enjoyed photography, cross stitch, and sewing and even made her own clothes when she was younger. She loved to sing Hymns in church and was in the choir for several years. She enjoyed classical music especially Strauss, along with Celtic, Asian and '50s music, and used to sing karaoke prior to moving to the U.S.

Threes is survived by her son, Chris Toscano of North Idaho. Her remaining family in Indonesia includes her brother, Agustinus Surianto Himawan; her sisters, Meity Himawan and Lindawati Surianto Himawan; as well as her niece, Brigitta Christiyanti Vania; and nephew, Benedictus Christian Ivan. She was pre-deceased by her husband, William, on March 4, 2006.

A viewing will be held on from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at Yates Funeral Homes — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, Hayden Bible Church, 290 E Miles Ave, Hayden, ID 83835.
