Two graduating seniors will be awarded $500 through the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge's 2022 scholarship program.

Serving the Rathdrum Prairie and Post Falls community since 1904, masons from the Rathdrum Lodge No. 41 are inviting Lakeland and Post Falls high school students to apply for their higher education scholarship program. One graduating senior from each high school will receive the $500 scholarship.

"We want to find a well-rounded student," Lodge Secretary Neil Uhrig said. "It's not all about grades. A student that is active in the community, works hard and has a financial need will stand out for us."

Freemasonry, to which the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge subscribes, is one of the world's oldest and largest fraternal orders with links traced back to the 14th century, according to the Idaho Freemasons website.

The site describes the organization as "A brotherhood of good men meeting and working in harmony, teaching strong moral and ethical values in personal, family and community behavior and a code of caring for others."

Funding for the scholarship comes from the lodge's annual charity auction and raffle hosted by Nashville North, which raises thousands of dollars for local programs the Masons support.

Students interested in the scholarship have until March 11 to submit their application letters.

The letter must include:

• Full name, age, and contact information

• High school of attendance

• Planned college or trade school

• Grade-point average, including Advanced Placement or dual enrollment course weight

• Involvement in athletics and community activities

• Awards received

• Any connection to the Masonic fraternity

• Supplemental information applicants feel should be considered

Winners will be selected on April 14, during the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge's monthly meeting.

Letters do not need to be in MLA format but should be business-styled, typed and sent through U.S. mail to the lodge at:
