David Edward Balbi, 53

David Edward Balbi, 53, of Spokane Valley, Wash., passed away Nov. 9, 2021. David was born on Feb. 9, 1968, in Butte, Mont., to David and Lauretta (Morris) Balbi.

The family moved to Coeur d’Alene at an early age, then to Hayden where he spent most of his younger years. David graduated from Coeur d’Alene High in 1986. He loved playing and watching football, especially his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish. David was an avid outdoorsman particularly bird hunting, fishing and camping. His wicked sense of humor, love of music, movies and quipping George Carlin kept us all laughing.

David is survived by his twin sister, Jamie Ekness and brother-in-law, Kevin Ekness; niece, Tayler Ekness (Tim Malm) and nephew, Devin Ekness; sister, Teresa Thomas and brother-in-law, Kevin Thomas; niece, Sara Thomas; sister, Beth Rheinschmidt and brother-in-law, Curtis Rheinschmidt. David was preceded in death by his father, David F. Balbi; mother, Jean L. Balbi; cousin, Kimberly E. Svee; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Yates Funeral Home - Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. 4th St., Coeur d’Alene, followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge.
