Edna Sincich Baum, 96

| November 13, 2021 1:00 AM

Edna passed away on Oct. 29, 2021, due to complications from pneumonia. She was born Aug. 28, 1925, in San Pablo, Calif. Edna grew up in Richmond, Calif., with her parents Edward and Evana Sincich, along with three sisters and a brother. Her parents had migrated to America, from what was then Yugoslavia, seeking a safer and better life. Edna was their third child and the first to be born in America.

During WWII, Edna and her two older sisters purchased the house next to her future husband's parents. It was common to write letters to men who were away at war. So upon being asked by her future mother-in-law, Edna agreed to write to Glenn who was serving in the Navy, on the USS Sullivan in the Pacific. Those letters led to a 72-year marriage!

Edna and Glenn raised their family in Concord, Calif. She retired from the Bank of America after over 40 years. Once both she and Glenn retired, they moved up to Coeur d'Alene to be close to their granddaughters. Edna continued working into her 80s for Dr. Michael Christensen, until he retired!

Edna and Glenn traveled extensively throughout their marriage. They enjoyed golf, boating and playing cards. Edna loved baking, specializing in cookies and the best banana bread ever! She lovingly cared for her beautiful flower pots all around their Hayden home.

Edna leaves her sister, Vera (Dave) Bretoi of La Habra; son Mike Baum (Cathy Emerson) of Cd'A; daughter Patti Goodman (Dan Kenney) of La Quinta, Calif.; granddaughters Pauline (Stephen) Currie of Cd'A; Stephanie (Justin) White of Fayetteville, Tenn.; grandson Joshua (Jessica) Goodman of Long Beach, Calif.; great-granddaughters Alexis Allen, Kyla Currie, Kayin Goodman; great-grandsons AJ Currie and Parker Goodman. She leaves many beloved nieces and nephews in the Los Angeles area.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Glenn, daughter-in-law Lisa Baum and son-in-law, CHP Officer Jim Goodman. Also predeceased by her brother Edward Sonny; sisters Cecelia Moniz and Christine Sincich.

Edna did not want a funeral. She preferred to be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She lived a happy, healthy, fulfilled life, making thousands of cookies for family and friends. She will be deeply missed for her smile and her dry sense of humor!

Donations in her (and Glenn's) honor can be made to the Schneidmiller Hospice House, where both Glenn and Edna passed under very gentle and respectful care. Please direct your donations, in honor of Glenn and Edna, to: Hospice House of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave. Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815.
