RV BUYERS: Beware

| November 10, 2021 1:00 AM

Not too long ago I bought a RV from a dealership. Sale price: $24,844. It was a good deal. However, this is the rest of the story.

Paid down $5,400, came down to $21,134 after taxes and fees. There are a lot of papers to sign. However, you need to be aware of what you’re signing. You need to read the fine print you cannot “see.” In other words, you need to look for it. For example, the U.S. warranty, roadside assistance, multiseat, tire and road hazard and gap care.

These things need to be explained to you so you know what you are being charged for. You need to see the numbers — the price you will be paying. If their numbers were explained to me I would not have had to pay $10,000 more than the sale price which was $21,134.

Ask yourself: Do I really need all these options? When you sign the paper you are on the hook and pay it. Now there are those who buy from private people. Make sure you check out what you are buying. Once you buy it, it is “as is” unless the people are really nice and give you your money back.

The bottom line is, RV buyers, beware!
