An explosive argument with one neighbor and a neighborly gesture from another turned into a bomb scare.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office responded to West Highway 54 for a suspicious package Monday. The reporting person stated she and her husband were in a dispute with a neighbor "over differing political ideologies" and had received threatening voicemails.

A suspicious backpack was left at the entrance to their gate on Monday, so they called the sheriff's office.

Detectives responded with the robot and a probation officer responded with his bomb dog, KCSO reported.

"After using all available resources, with negative indications that the backpack was dangerous, it was checked," according to the report. "It turns out a different neighbor had dropped off some meals and meat for the family with a nice note, they just did not tell anyone they were doing it."
