James "Jim" Holland, 85

| November 3, 2021 1:00 AM

Beloved Husband, Father, Papaw and Uncle passed away on Oct. 30, 2021, at the Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Kentucky. He resided in Huntington Beach, Calif. before moving to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 1998.

Jim was in the Armed Forces and attended the Sheriff's Academy where he trained and then served the Cincinnati Police Department for five years and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department for 28 years.

He married the love of his life, Roxanne Ruttman Holland, in 1989 and were together 37 wonderful years. They were a match made in heaven and became best friends, grandparents, doggy parents, and devoted sports fans to the NASCAR, Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers. They followed sports for the entire 37 years they were together and never missed a game, always at each other’s sides cheering on their favorite teams.

Jim loved to fish and play golf. He also thoroughly enjoyed boating and shared two beautiful homes in Hayden Lake and Lake Havasu with Roxanne. They loved taking the boats out with family and friends for a peaceful cruise and amazing scenery. Papaw really loved to take the grandkids fishing on the lakes!

Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Roxanne Ruttman of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter, Lisa Danielle Holland of Bremerton, Wash.; daughter, Dina (Josh) Shore of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; grandson, Troy LaBriola of Moscow, Idaho; grandson, Mason Shore of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; nephew and niece, Josh and Angela Lewis of Huntington Beach, Calif.; mother-in-law, Beverly Benson of Hayden, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Lewis and Kimball Holland.

There will be no service at his request. Please visit yatesfuneralhomes.com to sign Jim’s guestbook and share memories and condolences. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements.
