INSURRECTION: We must have answers

| May 30, 2021 1:00 AM

Perhaps I am missing the latest political jousting surrounding a Commission to review the lead up and actual storming of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6.

The Republican politicians who were actual victims of the onslaught have miraculously all become amnesiacs. Blood was spilled, lives were lost, property WE THE PEOPLE OWN was damaged, destroyed and defaced. Why are these crime victims somehow letting a true and highly recorded insurrection just slide under the rug?

Politics aside, a crime was committed but now it is all “Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Speak no Evil?”

If someone broke into your home, destroyed your possessions, killed your cat and threatened your life, would you not want to at least get to the crux of who, why and what was done? If we cannot learn from facts and accounts, then we are bound to see history repeat itself.

The “People’s House” is no longer that. Millions will be spent to repair the damage, harden and fortify what was supposed to be a symbol of ALL citizens and residents within our democratic government.

I urge our representatives that they participate in the non-partisan commission. We need to find out the chinks in the armor that allowed the Jan. 6 insurrection to unfold into pure mayhem.

Drop a line to Reps. Russ Fulcher (https://fulcher.house.gov/email-me), Senators James Risch (https://www.risch.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/email) and Mike Crapo (https://www.crapo.senate.gov/contact/email-me).
