GOVERNMENT: Try this on

| May 23, 2021 1:00 AM

I saw the article in the Coeur d’Alene Press about a commission studying optional forms of government. I would like to suggest we try “representative.” You know, an electoral system where citizens vote to elect people to represent their interests and concerns.

Those elected meet to debate and make laws on behalf of the whole community. That way if an issue comes along in which the citizens have an almost universal agreement, like for instance rampant growth, these “representatives” would act in the best interests of the people who currently live in the community instead of telling them it’s against the law and their hands are tied. That’s just crazy enough to work.

At the very least, it’s worth a try. It sure beats what we have now.
