Amazon hiring more than 2,000 in Washington State
SPOKANE — Amazon on Thursday announced that it is hiring 75,000 people in its fulfillment and logistics network across the U.S. and Canada as it continues to expand its footprint and serve customers.
That includes about 2,000 employees in Washington state, with 500 in the Spokane area.
Amazon recently announced pay increases across its fulfillment and transportation networks, and these open roles offer an average starting pay of at least $17 per hour, plus sign-on bonuses in many locations of up to $1,000, according to a press release.
The company also offers full-time employees benefits.
“Working at Amazon also comes with an unwavering commitment to safety, especially as we continue to navigate a global pandemic," said Alicia Boler Davis, vice president of Global Customer Fulfillment at Amazon. "In addition to the great pay and robust benefits available to new hires starting on their first day, we’re offering a $100 benefit to any new hire who comes to Amazon already vaccinated for COVID-19.”
In February, Amazon confirmed it will open a fulfillment center in Spokane Valley that will bring 1,000 new full-time jobs to the area.
The 1.3 million-square-foot facility is slated to open later this year.
