ADVERTISING: Advertorial — How to support liver and gallbladder health naturally
Your incredible liver has more than 4,000 vital functions and is your primary detoxification organ. Unfortunately, if you live on earth today, you are suffering from liver stress, as our environment contains a daily barrage of toxic insults, from dioxins and phthalates in plastics, to pesticides and herbicides in food, to PCBs in electrical equipment. In fact, in the United States alone, 80,000 new chemicals are released into the environment annually!
The liver simply was not designed to handle the number of assaults it currently encounters and because of this, we see a wide variety of liver-related symptoms. These can range from headaches and migraines, acne, rashes and other skin disorders, allergies and mood disorders, to all kinds of hormonal imbalances, including PMS and endometriosis.
So what are some of the best ways to support your liver?
First, don’t neglect your annual liver cleanses — especially in the spring and fall. That said, a liver cleanse should ideally be done under the care of a qualified health practitioner. Because our liver is so overloaded, it tends to tuck circulating toxins into our fatty tissues to get them out of the way — just like a child cleaning up a room quickly by throwing things into the closet! A detox can make you worse if you aren’t healthy enough beforehand to manage the extra load that is getting released into your system. When done correctly, however, great health benefits will be experienced.
Second, we need to be supporting our liver every day, not just seasonally. Some of the best foods to strengthen and support liver detox mechanisms include beets and beet greens, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage, and liver. A number of medicinal herbs that support liver detoxing can also be included in a daily supplement program.
Third, take care of your gallbladder, too. While you can live without your gallbladder, it was put there for a reason! The gallbladder is essential for breaking down fats in your diet (remember, toxins are stored in fat), and making sure you have good elimination. Gallbladder sludge and stones point to bigger problems in the digestive system that need to be addressed. Most gallbladder surgeries can be avoided with the proper preventive measures.
Finally, don’t forget acupuncture! Acupuncture can specifically target the liver and gallbladder, improving both circulation and function. Regular treatments can both boost liver health and prevent disease.
Improving liver and gallbladder function is absolutely essential for good health today. At Vital Health we help people find their way to the root causes of their health challenges, providing step-by-step guidance on what to do in order to restore health naturally.
