'Paws for a Cause' benefits KHS

COEUR d’ALENE — On May 20 you can have a barbecue lunch and help the Kootenai Humane Society at the same time.

The team at John L. Scott Real Estate is volunteering to help clean up at KHS, and then plans to serve lunch for $8, with all proceeds going toward the society’s fundraiser for a new facility.

The KHS goal is to raise $6.5 million for a 24,000-square-foot shelter to replace the one that is more than 40 years old. It has raised about $4.9 million.

More than 400 pets have been adopted at KHS this year.

John L. Scott’s event is called “Paws for a Cause” and lunch will be served outside from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lunches can also be ordered in advance and will be delivered. But you must order at least five lunches and phone in by May 17. Info: 208-664-8500.

Another KHS fundraiser for the new shelter, "Adopt Felden," offers a chance to win one of three luxury trips — Monterey golf experience, Tuscany culinary escape and Belize, all inclusive. Tickets are $50 and only 500 will be sold.
