RESPONSE: Diversity isn’t evil

| May 7, 2021 1:00 AM

Wow. In response to Robert Hunt’s letter of April 30, I’d like to know how he can paint half the population in such terms as rot and wanting to spray us all with pesticide. I could respond in kind but it would do no good. Calling names never does. There is commonality among us all.

We were all created by the same Supreme Being, regardless of the name you give him/her. Diversity is the name of the game on Earth, whether you are talking about animals, birds, insects, flowers, humans or ideas.

It would be a pretty boring world if we all looked the same, talked the same and believed the same things. Of course, if that is what Mr. Hunt is looking for, perhaps he should consider North Korea or Iraq. Controlling society doesn’t seem to work very well there.

Jesus taught the Golden Rule, “do unto others as we would want them to do unto us.” I don’t recall him teaching us to hate others for their differences.

Asking for background checks to help keep weapons out of the hands of violent people is not against the Second Amendment. It’s good sense. It would take ratification of 2/3 of the states to take the Second Amendment away and it will never happen.

Being concerned about one’s sexual orientation, is frankly, no one’s business except the people involved. The same is true for abortion. As for the rest, I’m sorry you feel that way. Life is too short.
