ZAGS NOTES: Highly touted PG Sallis picks GU

Hunter Sallis, a highly rated 6-5 point guard at Millard North High in Omaha, Neb., announced Friday he has verbally committed to No. 1 and undefeated Gonzaga.

Sallis, ranked No. 6 by 247Sports and No. 13 in the ESPN 100 for the recruiting class of 2021, eight also considered Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon, UCLA and Iowa State as well as Creighton, his hometown school.

Sallis made the announcement Friday morning in his high school gym — on his 18th birthday.

Kispert, Suggs, Timme named Wooden All-Americans

LOS ANGELES – Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert, Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme have been named to the 2021 John R. Wooden Award All-American Team, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Friday.

Gonzaga becomes the first school in the award’s history to have three players named to the 10-man Wooden Award All-American Team. Kispert was named a finalist for the Wooden Award Men’s Player of the Year.

The 10-player Wooden Award All-American Team, alphabetically, consists of Jared Butler (Baylor), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State), Hunter Dickinson (Michigan), Ayo Dosunmu (Illinois), Luka Garza (Iowa), Corey Kispert (Gonzaga), Evan Mobley (USC), Jalen Suggs (Gonzaga), and Drew Timme (Gonzaga).

The five finalists for the award are Butler, Cunningham, Dosunmu, Garza, and Kispert.

The award winner will be announced on SportsCenter on ESPN on April 6.
