All juniors at the STEM Charter Academy, they were Bronsen Fulk, son of Eva and Jason Fulk; Joshua McKenna, son of Deborah and Mark McKenna; Basquiat Nelson, son of Mariann and Joel Nelson; and Brenner Drake, son of Jennifer and Brian Drake.

All four also attend North Idaho College.

"American Legion Post 154 of Rathdrum is proud to recognize these young men, their many accomplishments and their commitment to our country and their community," a press release said.

Boys State was founded in 1935 by the American Legion. It is a participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county and state government.

At the weeklong Boys State, participants learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of franchised citizens. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations and recreational programs.

"The learning, experience, memories, and friendships last a lifetime," a press release said.

Prominent alumni of the Legion’s Boys State Program include Idaho Sen. Mike Crapo, Dick Cheney – former U.S. vice president, and retired pro basketball player Michael Jordan.
