Brad Hollibaugh memorial pool tourney to benefit KHS
A memorial pool tournament in honor of Brad Hollibaugh is scheduled June 19 at Paddy’s Sports Bar in Coeur d'Alene.
Hollibaugh was a bodybuilder during his career and competed at a national level. He died at the age of 54 in April.
Event organizer James Mitchell said Hollibaugh loved animals and playing pool.
“He was about the most genuine person you could ever meet. Wouldn't tolerate bullying in any form around him. Just an all around good guy,” Mitchell wrote. “He will be sorely missed.”
The tournament will benefit the Kootenai Humane Society. It will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is a donation of at least $20. It will be capped at 120 players. There will be trophies for the top three players.
Early signups are welcome, but plan to pay the morning of the tourney.
A memorial service was held for Hollibaugh at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene on April 22.
“Largely competing during the '80s and early '90s, Hollibaugh was something of a mass monster during his time in the sport,” it stated at fitnessvolt.com. “With huge arms and a massive chest, the 5-foot, 9-inch bodybuilder oftentimes competed at a plodding bodyweight of 260 pounds.
“After his career ended as a competitor, Brad was never far from the sport, working as a coach and trainer to younger athletes. He clearly found joy in helping others achieve their goals and sculpt physiques similar to his own.”
Mitchell said Hollibaugh "was a really wonderful human with the biggest heart."
“This tournament is very close to my heart and I would really love to see this become very large and successful event,” Mitchell wrote.
