Gloria Porter, 81

| June 11, 2021 1:00 AM

Gloria was born in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1, 1940, to Chester and Margaret Day. She attended Monrovia schools, and after graduating from Monrovia/Duarte High School in Monrovia, Calif., she worked at a local bank.

She soon met Donald Porter and fell in love. They were married on March 18, 1961. They moved into a cute bungalow in Monrovia and raised two kids, a boy and a girl. She left the bank to concentrate on caring for her husband and kids.

They remained in the same home until after Don's retirement in 1992, then they moved to Coeur d'Alene and bought a house in the Stanley Hill area. After Don's death, she moved to a home on Prairie Falls Golf Course in Post Falls, where she lived for 20 years surrounded by family and friends.

Gloria passed away peacefully encircled by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Donald and her parents. Gloria is survived by her sister, Nancy “Penny” Evans of Temple Terrace, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Marsha Porter of Spirit Lake, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dale Davis, of Post Falls, Idaho; three granddaughters; Melissa Lewis (Rob) of Liberty Lake, Wash.; Becky Jones (Tony) of Osburn, Idaho, Amy Reno (Chris) of Newport, Wash.; two grandsons; Nathan Davis of Post Falls, Idaho and Joseph Frank (Isabel) of Tacoma, Wash.; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A very special thank you to the staff at Kootenai Health and the “angels” at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for their wonderful loving care.
