On April 29, 2021 the world lost an amazing woman.

Born Donna Jean Phillips on December 10, 1931 to Ivan & Gladys Phillips in Boise, Idaho. She has 2 sisters, Mary & Bonnie and a brother Dale.

She married the love of her life David Dawson Cushman on March 3rd 1950 in Boise, Idaho. After her graduation in May of that year at Star High School they moved to Bremerton, Wash. where they resided for 2 years. During that time their first-born son Timothy David was born. They returned to southern Idaho and had 4 more children, Teresa, Bruce, Nancy and Cindy and remained there until 1965 when they moved to Coeur d’Alene. The following year Mom started working at the North Shore Restaurant and Lounge as a waitress where she made many life-long friends. She actually trained many of the staff that continued to work for Mr. Hagadone & Mr. Jaeger for many years. She also worked at the Hayden Lake Country Club and did many private parties. In 1982 she made a major career change, going to work for Dexter Yates as the secretary for Yates Funeral Home and continued there until her retirement in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband David, daughter-in-law Patti and many of her dearest friends. She is survived by her sisters and children, Timothy (Debbie) Cushman of Kellogg, Teresa Hooker of Post Falls, Bruce Cushman of Rathdrum, Nancy (Dusty) Flamand of Coeur d’Alene and Cindy (Frank) Jarnagin of Coeur d’Alene. She also had 16 Grandchildren, 35 Great-Grandchildren & 8 Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was "MOM" to all of our friends and never forgot a face, name or an important date. A true matriarch of our huge family, she will forever touch the lives of everyone who knew her.

We would like to thank the following for their excellent care & compassion during these last few difficult years. Life Care of Coeur d’Alene, Crest Homes and Schneidmiller Hospice House of N.I. in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to any of these organizations.

We will be having a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. on July 24, 2021 at Dusty & Nancy Flamands house in Coeur d’Alene, Contact 208-661-1902. Any & all are welcome to join us in remembering this wonderful woman! Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
