COEUR d'ALENE RECREATION

Golf lessons: Registration is underway, and will run through June 14 or until full for the Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department youth golf camp for ages 5-8.

These is fun and instructional in nature.

Two sessions are offered. There is limited registration. The first session will begin on June 21; the second session will begin July 13. Classes are held twice a week for three weeks. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday mornings at Person Field, 15th Street and Garden Avenue.

All equipment is provided. Registration fee is $55.

Tennis lessons: Registration is underway, and runs through June 11 or until classes are full, for the Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department's youth tennis instructional classes for ages ranging from 8 to 15.

Register at the Cd'A recreation office, located at 710 Mullan Ave. There is limited registration.

Classes will begin June 15 and will run for four weeks. Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Ramsey Park tennis courts. Students must supply their own tennis racket and a can of balls.

Student cost for eight lessons is $40.

BASKETBALL

Viking Basketball Camp: Coeur d'Alene High boys and girls basketball coaches and players comprise the instructional staff for the Viking Basketball Camp, scheduled for June 14-16 at Coeur d'Alene High's Viking Court.

Boys and girls in grades K-4 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon each day; and grades 5-8 will meet from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Cost is $100 per player.

Lady Trojan Basketball Camp: Post Falls High School girls basketball coaches and players comprise the instructional staff for the camp, for girls entering grades 2-8, on June 21-23 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at Post Falls High School.

Cost is $70 per player, or $120 for two members of a family, or $150 for three or more members of a family.

Fees can be paid on the first day of camp.

Photo by SUZI ENTZI The Thorns North FC 08 Girls Red soccer team traveled to Boise to play in the Idaho State Cup this past weekend. On Friday the Thorns defeated Indie Chicas 08G TN 3-1. Izzie Grimmett had a goal and an assist. Avery Lathen and Talia Lambro each had one goal. Alli Carrico had an assist. On Saturday morning the Thorns fell to the Boise Timbers Thorns 08G Red 3-1. Alli Carrico had the Thorns goal with the assist by Hailoh Whipple. Saturday evening the Thorns lost to PVSC United 08 Premier 3-0. Macy Walter (pictured) and Adysen Robinson were in goal for the Thorns for the State Cup games.

Courtesy photo The Timbers North FC 05 Boys Red soccer team was Idaho State Cup finalists this past weekend at Simplot Sports Complex in Boise, earning the opportunity to compete June 16-20 in Salt Lake City at the USYS Far West Presidents Cup. On Friday evening the Timbers won 6-0 vs PVSC United. Cooper Prohaska started off the scoring for the Timbers and ended the game with a hat trick, scoring his third goal on a PK. Bryce Allred assisted two different goals, to Isaac Fritts and Seth Johnson. Allred also scored a goal on a PK just before the end of the first half. Miles Taylor posted the shutout as goalkeeper. Saturday morning the Timbers lost 3-2 to the Boise Timbers FC. Bryce Allred and Isaac Fritts scored the two goals for the Timbers North. Saturday evening the Timbers won 5-3 vs. BYSL IFFC. Jacob Ukich scored a goal in the first half for the Timbers. Second-half goals were scored by Cooper Prohaska, Jacob Ukich, Isaac Fritts and Ashton Ukich. Isaac Fritts and Seth Johnson each had an assist. The final game of the round robin ended in a 3-2 Timbers win vs. Idaho Rush. The first half included Markus Noble assisting Cooper Prohaska on a goal as well as Bryce Allred sending in a corner kick to Isaac Fritts for the Timbers. In the second half, Griffyn Rider assisted Isaac Fritts on a goal.
